At Be Nourished, we talk about nourishment to deepen the common conversation about feeding ourselves that is so often deduced to calories, good/bad thinking, and frequently rooted in scarcity. When something as essential and big as nourishment is made this small, it’s not feeding us anymore: not our souls, not our bodies, not our hearts and not our communities.

Years ago, when we settled on the name Be Nourished, we were in love with the idea (and the very definition) of nourish:

“To give people the substance they require to live, grow or remain fit and healthy; to encourage or strengthen a feeling or idea; to help something to grow or develop”

As we go deeper and deeper into understanding what nourishment is, we find ourselves moving further and further away from fear-based ideals that want to focus on food more than stigma. We lead a search for nourishment that fills us from the inside out, balloons our bodies and souls with reminders of our meaning and resilience, and take us back to our true value. We seek food (of all kinds) that fills us with pleasure. We don’t deny ourselves satisfaction. Fulfillment comes in many forms: a burger, live music, a bowl of pasta, art, conversation, a dish of ice cream, nature, and so on. Primarily, it is devotion to enriching and regularly touching into what you hold most dear.
